Agents and their training

The designers and reviewers at a collection's table, what each is trained on, and the switch that decides whether that training helps DuoHand itself.

Studio, Agents: each has a role, a taste, and a pack of what it has been taught

An agent is one of the minds placed at a collection's table, in a role: Design Director, Product Designer, Graphic Designer, CAD Designer, or Judgement, the reviewer. What makes one agent differ from another is its training: the entries it has been taught, in words you can read, under Training.

  • Training an agent

Under Training, a dimension of the agent's taste is trained by a trainer working through material and conversation: Start training begins, New training chat opens a fresh thread, Stop ends the run. As it works the strip reads Saving to this agent's training, Repairing a training entry or Retiring a training entry, and the run reports how many entries it saved. A run that reaches its step limit waits for Start training again or the word continue.

  • Training settings

Training settings shape the run: Show their working for every step or just the conversation, Token count to watch what it reads, Behaviour for how the trainer conducts itself, and Training memory for whether it carries what it learned between runs.

  • Packs

Export agent pack saves everything an agent has been taught as a file; Import agent pack reads it back into an agent. Delete removes the agent and everything it was trained with, and cannot be undone.

  • The consent switch

The first time you train an agent, DuoHand asks whether what you train may be used to improve DuoHand itself: Allow or Don't allow. Allowed, a contribution can be used as written, rewritten, or as a starting point, and once adopted it becomes part of what every agent knows and cannot be taken back; switching it off later only stops what has not been adopted yet. The same switch lives under Settings, Data; Your data has it in full.

Questions

Agents

Who takes a job on?

The agent in the role the job needs: a redraw goes to a Product Designer, a build to a CAD Designer, a review to Judgement. When more than one is placed in that role, DuoHand asks which; A piece, from sketch to 3D describes the asking.

The training run stopped when I switched tabs.

The browser closed the connection, but the run carried on and finished on the server; what it saved is in the entries. Open Training again to read them.

Does training an agent cost credit?

Yes, like any run, and the training chat shows what each turn cost. A run that breaks on our side is not charged.
