Install DuoHand Bench
The download, the pairing code, and what to expect the first time.
Bench is the half that runs on your machine
It opens your files, drives the design software you already own, and reports every step back into the chat. It has no tray icon: a console window and a settings window are what you see of it. The download is on the website; the pairing code that ties it to your account comes from Settings.

Download and run
Download for Windows, unzip the folder anywhere, and double-click Install.cmd. The installer copies the program to its own place in your user folder (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\DuoHand Bench), so the unzipped folder can go afterwards. If PowerShell 7 is missing it is installed first, and Windows asks once.

Pair it
A settings window opens at the end and reads “Not connected”. Now go to DuoHand: Settings, Your computer, then Connect a computer, and copy the pairing code it shows. Press Connect in the settings window and paste it. The line changes to “Connected to DuoHand as” with this machine’s name, and within about a minute Settings lists it under Connected computers. A Bench that is not paired only waits; it does nothing.

Back in the chat, ask for work that needs your software. Bench does it and reports each step as it goes.
From a terminal
The same install, without unzipping
In PowerShell, irm https://api.duohand.ai/bench/install.ps1 | iex installs or updates Bench without unzipping anything, and Windows shows no publisher warning. From the unpacked download, .\Install.ps1 -Pair <code> installs and connects in one go.
Questions
Installing
Is there a Mac version?
Windows today. The Mac build is on the way; there is no date yet. The row in Settings says which builds exist.
Does it need administrator rights?
No. It installs into your own user folder. The one time Windows asks for permission is when PowerShell 7 has to be installed first.
Windows warned me about an unverified publisher.
Bench is not code-signed yet, so Windows may show that warning the first time you run Install.cmd. Choose to run it anyway, or install from a terminal, which shows no warning.
Where does it put things?
The program in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\DuoHand Bench, what it makes in Documents\DuoHand (you can move that in the settings window), and its connection to your account in your Windows profile, encrypted for your account only.
Does it start by itself?
Yes, every time you sign in to Windows. The box “Start DuoHand Bench when I sign in” in DuoHand Bench Settings (Start menu) turns that off.
How does it update?
It checks for a newer build once a day and tells you; it does not install one behind your back. Press Check for updates in the settings window, or run the terminal line above again. Every download is checked against its published checksum before it is used.
Can I run it on two computers?
Yes. Each one pairs separately, and Settings lists which computers your account has. Pairing the same computer again does not add a second row.
How do I remove it?
Windows Settings, Apps, DuoHand Bench. That removes the program and its connection to your account, and leaves Documents\DuoHand where it is.
