Replies: copy, edit, try again, versions
What the small buttons under every message do, and how a chat keeps more than one version of an answer.
Four small buttons, and a counter when there is more than one version
Hover or tap a message and a row appears under it: Copy, Edit on your own messages, Try Again, and Download when the message carries a picture or a file. Share hands a single reply on. When a message has more than one version, a counter such as 1/2 sits with the row, with a chevron on each side to move between them.
Edit
Change something you said. The edited message becomes a new version beside the old one, and the conversation continues from the edited one; the old version and everything that followed it stay, one chevron away. Nothing is overwritten.
Try Again
Under a reply, or under your own message: the reply to it is made again, as a new version beside the first. Use it when an answer missed and you have nothing to add; when you do have something to add, say it instead, and it steers the next attempt.
Versions
The counter shows which version you are looking at. Whichever version is showing is the one the conversation carries on from, and the one a collection, an export or a share reads. The others are kept, and switching back is a chevron, not a request.
Copy and Download
Copy takes the text. Download takes the picture or the file a message carries, in its original form; for an export card it is the exported file itself.
The chat itself
Rename, file, finish, share, delete
The chat's own menu, at its title, has Rename, Add to project to file it with the other chats of one job, Mark as final when a chat has reached its end (and Mark as active to reopen it), Share link to chat, and Delete chat. The share link opens only for members of the project the chat belongs to; for them the chat is read-only, and everything said after sharing is visible too.
Questions
Replies
I edited a message and the later replies disappeared.
They are on the earlier version. The counter under the edited message reads 2/2; the left chevron takes you back to 1/2, where the old text and everything after it still stand.
Does Try Again cost anything?
The same as any reply; the new version carries its own price. The first version is not charged again.
Can I take a shared chat back?
Yes: Settings, Data lists your shared chats, and taking one back closes the link. Your data is that page.
